Faith is not a Feeling

Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words remain forever.

We all know that the life we are called to live as a believer is a life of Faith (Romans 1:17, Gal.3:11 Heb.10:38). But It so happen that folks have thought faith can be felt and so they missed out on receiving that which they have prayed to God for or what God has for them. We often allow our feelings to dictate our stance with I don’t feel forgiven by God, so He must still be angry with me. I don’t feel joy, so I will not worship God. I don’t feel God’s presence, even though I have the Holy Spirit living inside of me. I don’t feel God when I do my Bible study, so I must be doing something wrong. I don’t feel healed so I must still be having the symptoms of sickness, etc.

It is therefore crucial to know that Faith is not a feeling, but a believing that God’s word is true regardless of how you feel or how your emotions dictates about it. Faith is taking God by His word regardless what the circumstances says. We don’t believe something because of how it makes us feel but what the scriptures says about it.

Our text today says, heaven and earth will pass away but His Word will not. The implication of this is that, we all know our feelings change, hence it cannot be trusted but God’s never change. In other words, you must come to recognize that you can trust God’s word above your feelings. God’s word is truer than anything you feel, experience or you may face in this world.

So as you go about your everyday life, what is it you are facing don’t be tempted to trust how you feel about it above what God said about.

CONFESSION

I believe God’s word above how are I feel
I believe God’s word is true and I stand with it
