Compassion
Matthew 15:32
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
Sometimes people act in ways that can be difficult to manage. One of the last things that we may feel during difficult times of loving others is compassion. We have busy lives and we can often focus on our needs while overlooking the needs of those around us.
Jesus was a great example of how to respond to people who are difficult. He had compassion for them. Our anchor text reveals how that Jesus had compassion on the multitude when he provided food for four thousand men despite knowing that this same people might not likely follow his teachings. It is also worthy of note that every time Jesus had compassion it always lead to miracle. Hence, Peter’s instructions to the believers that we “be all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous”. 1Pet 3:8
God has given each of us the ability to love others in difficult times. We are His hands and feet in this world and He wants to fill us with compassion to reach out to those around us who need God. Who are those people that God has put in your life that may feel like an inconvenience? It could be that God has placed them there so that you can have compassion for them and show them His love and don’t forget compassion always lead to a miracle.
So Let’s ask God today to give us hearts that are sensitive and compassionate to those around us.
