Being a Witness 2
Devotional Reading: “Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.” Mark 5:19
Jesus in his earthly ministry went about doing good, healing the sick and delivering the oppressed. This same thing he did through the early apostles and He keeps doing through as many who believes in Him today. It is the desire of God that all men be saved, from all miracles performed by Jesus we discovered they were means to an end; getting all glory to the father that men would believe in Him.
Jesus’ encounter with the man with an unclean spirit (often called the mad man of Gadarene) reveals to us how powerful He is over unclean spirits. Also, we discovered that after the deliverance of the demon possed man, he desired to go along with Jesus. But right from that day, we saw Jesus handing over to him the ministry of reconciliation. He was instructed to go back home to his own people, to tell them about his encounter, what the Master did, how he had mercy on Him. This we saw the man did, he went to the ten towns of Decapolis witnessing to them the goodness of God.
You were also saved from the power of darkness, in which the tool of the devil on you could have been addiction of all sorts, sicknesses, diseases, poverty, ill-luck, generational curses, stagnation, failure and lots more. All that the man was required to do was to go back home and testify to his friends and families about the goodness of God towards him. From the numerous things God delivered you from, you shouldn’t be part of those who struggle to proclaim God’s goodness, you already have a good point to begin to share about the gospel of Christ (His suffering, death, burial and resurrection). You were delivered for that purpose. Arise and witness Christ.
Prayer and Confession
I refuse to be silent in propagating the gospel, I testify about the goodness of God in my life to others and I see them translated into the kingdom of God as I become a faithful witness, in Jesus name, amen.
