Best ‘Influencer’ You Can Trust
Devotional Reading: In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:6 ESV
Do you remember growing up watching kids- driven commercials like Milo beverage, Peak Milk (Kanu “it’s in you”), Indomie noodles with all their super heroes stuff? It did something to us then, it drove us to tell our parents to get those things for us, because the thing about kids is that, they see those commercials and are convinced they need it.
We may not be little kids anymore, but we are all influenced by people and things all day long, whether we realize it or not. Commercials on TV are made to tell us we need what the company is advertising. Influencers on social media platforms build platforms that allow them to carry influence about products to promote or a message to hear. When we are influenced by something or someone we are convinced we need what they have. That thing or person becomes what leads and guides us.

Sometimes, we’re led to believe that WE are our own guide. Culture tells us that we should follow our hearts, but Jesus reminds us that our hearts are not always a wise leader. Our hearts don’t always desire what is good, so we have to turn to the only leader we can trust: Jesus. He is the best leader and influencer that we can follow. Jesus is the only one who will never lead us astray.
Pray and Confession
Jesus, I want to be led by you. In every moment and every day, help me to follow you and not the world. Help me to trust you more than my own thoughts and feelings. Amen.
