Understanding Jehovah Jireh 4

Devotional Reading: And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. Genesis 22:3 KJV

The above text reveals something profound about Jehovah Jireh’s exams. When we consider Abraham’s prompt obedience in verse 3, our first impression is that Abraham must be a very obedient man or very crazy because we do not consider ourselves as being able to act in such manner if we were in the same situation.

As much as we celebrate Abraham’s prompt obedience, we should also be aware that Abraham got there in over 25 years of walking with God. He had been trained and retrained on the different levels. He had experienced three life defining encounters with God prior to this instruction. Hence, his exam matched his capacity.

Jehovah Jireh is a just examiner, he will never test you where he has not trained you. Jehovah Jireh is fully aware of our abilities and will never allow any testing that is beyond our capacity as His intent is promotion and not destruction. The exciting part of this truth is that one should rejoice at every instruction he gives because before the instruction came, there was resident capacity to obey it, thus, promotion is inevitable when obedience happens.

Have you been instructed by Jehovah Jireh? rejoice because you already have capacity to obey. It’s not a stumbling block for your falling it’s a stepping stone for your rising.

Prayer and Confession
Father I rejoice at your word and instructions because I know you have given me the capacity to fulfill it. Thank you for setting me up for lifting. The word of the Lord is like honey to my lips, it’s sweet to my soul, I rejoice at His voice and I walk in His sayings. I am blessed because I obey.
