Blessed Beyond

By Emilolayo Tosin

Devotional Reading: Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens. Ephesians 1:3 (HCSB)

Many times when you are told someone is blessed by God, what usually comes to mind is money, investments, or probably the luxury of the property the person owns.

Although it has been misinterpreted by various users, today’s text redirects our focus to the truth that God has blessed those who are in Christ Jesus with every spiritual blessing no matter who they are.

Mind you, the blessings are not in abstract form which needed to be translated to physical blessings as some will assume. The blessings are clearly itemimized in the rest of the passage (verses 4-14). These blessings are election (4), predestination (5), adoption (5), redemption (7), inheritance (11), and sealing with the promised Holy Spirit (13-14).

Hey, whether you feel it or not; whether you perceive it or not, you are the blessed of the Lord. No matter the tribe, race or gender you belong to, those who believe the Gospel have been blessed. Slave or free, rich or poor, superior or inferior; all are blessed in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Prayer and Confession
I receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. I pray that the eyes of my heart become enlightened that I may know the hope to which I have been called, the riches of God’s glorious inheritance, and God’s incomparably great power towards me.
