Honouring Others Genuinely
By Ifeoluwa Fatoki
Devotional Reading: “…and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation-as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand…” 2 Peter 3:15-16 NKJV
One of the virtues we rarely find in our world today is recognizing and honouring the measure of grace that God has given to other people. Most people find it easy to appreciate the grace of God in their superiors, but rarely do so with their contemporaries.
Rather, competition and the need to outdo one another is the current trend in the world today. From our anchor text, Apostle Peter, while writing to the believers, made mention to Apostle Paul, and honoured the grace that God had granted him. Every man only has grace in measures, God is the one who has all grace (1 Peter 5:10).
Beloved, the ability to recognize and honour God’s grace in another individual is a proof of genuine spiritual maturity. Remember, that we are all parts of the same body. Therefore, we must seek, and continue to celebrate the grace of God upon others.
Prayer and Confession.
I receive the grace to recognize and genuinely honour the grace of God on other people.
