Following God’s Plan For Your Life 2
By Tosin Lawal
Devotional Reading: “For God is faithful; he called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 1:9 (HCSB)
In our previous thought on following God’s Plan For Your Life, we emphasized that God’s call on our lives is primarily for intimate fellowship with Him. His plan for us is to know Him personally and intimately. In other parts of the Bible, we also learn that the purpose of following God’s plan for our lives is to bring glory to God.
Apostle Peter also made a profound statement in his letter to the believers, underscoring the importance of sustaining an intimate fellowship with God. In 2 Peter 1:3 (HCSB), he wrote: “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”
The Message translation provides a clearer explanation: “Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received!”
Therefore, following God’s plan precisely begins with knowing Jesus Christ personally and intimately. This is the foundation of all ministry.
As a believer, you have the desire to follow God’s plan for your life because He has placed it in you. He works in you both to will and to do according to His good pleasure. Spend time with Him in the secret place through prayer, worship, and studying His word.
Prayer and Confession
God works in me both to will and to do according to his good pleasure. There is an inborn desire in me to follow after God’s plan for it life.
