Prayer Promise 1

By Ifeoluwa Fatoki

Devotional Reading: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14 NKJV)

What we understand about prayer defines our approach to it. And our approach to prayer is evident in how we engage it. One of the misconceptions that many hold about prayer is that the one who prays only does so out of ritual. However, one promise of prayer is that God hears us when we pray.

In our world of today, listening is becoming a difficult skill. We rarely have time to hear each other. But not with God, He delights to hear us. Peter reminds us of this truth, when he said “the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer” (1 Pet. 3:12 NAS).

Imagine for a moment that you secure an audience with the American president. But, the truth is that every moment spent with God in prayer offers more. Isn’t it amazing that the God of the universe and the Father of spirits hears us when we pray. Therefore, our prayers are not on the basis of probability, rather we are certain that God listens to us. We are sure that God hears us. What then, does this imply for us?

Simply put, if God is ready to hear us, then we should be more willing and ready to talk to Him. Remember, that God hears His children when they pray is not probability, but certainty.
