The Efficacy of The Word 5
Devotional Reading: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 KJV
Our attitude towards the Word of God determines the place God holds in our life – The Word of God are not ordinary words, but are the thoughts and message of God to us. It is to be treated like our life depends on it, which in fact it does.
From our anchor text, we must understand that the Word of God is filled with guiding principles and instructions that enables us do that which God requires, aligning us perfectly to know and do the will of God. See this from the Contemporary English Version. God’s word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts. (Hebrews 4:12 CEV.)
In addition, our text also implies that God’s word is alive, in other words, the word of God is impregnated with the very life of God, it is everlasting and eternal. Much more also, is the spoken word of God which when received is at work effectually in us (1Thessalonians 2:13). Therefore, resolve to stay with the word of God and live by it and see your life changed and transformed.
Develop a plan on how to read, study and listen to God’s word.
