Pray with Faith, Not Wishful Thinking
Devotional Reading: “…Anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6
Sometimes we pray like gamblers hoping for a jackpot. “Maybe this prayer will hit.” But biblical prayer isn’t spiritual betting. It’s confident conversation with a God who’s already shown His faithfulness. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that faith is the currency of the Kingdom, not vibes or mood swings.
Take Elijah for example. When he prayed for rain after three years of drought (1 Kings 18), he didn’t just say one quick prayer and run. He prayed, expected results, and even sent his servant seven times to check the sky. That’s faith in action, believing it’s done, even before there’s a cloud in sight.
Faith doesn’t mean you won’t feel nervous; it means you trust God more than your nerves. It’s holding on to God’s promise, even when your bank account, emotions, or doctor’s report screams otherwise. Faith says, “If God said it, I believe it—even if my circumstances are still catching up.”
A person praying with faith will also act like the answer is on the way. You pray for rain? Carry an umbrella. You pray for a job? Update your CV. You pray for a spouse? Work on being dateable (yes, I said it). Faith prepares for the manifestation of the answer.
Prayer and Confession
I don’t pray by luck or guesswork. I pray with faith, fully convinced that God hears and answers. Amen!
