God Speaks Before He Acts
Devotional Reading: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 KJV
One of the most overlooked truths about Christmas is that it did not start with a baby crying in a manger. It started with God talking. Long before Mary ever existed, God had already spoken about her womb. This tells us something powerful about the nature of God. He does not wait for situations to arise before He responds. He speaks first, and reality eventually catches up. Prophecy is God announcing the future before it shows up, not because He is guessing, but because He already knows the end from the beginning.
Another thing many believers miss is that prophecy often sounds unrealistic when it is first spoken. Imagine hearing Isaiah say a virgin will conceive. That statement alone would have confused people, offended logic, and challenged biology. Yet God intentionally speaks in ways that force faith to rise above reasoning. If God only spoke things that made sense, faith would not be required. Christmas reminds us that God’s word is not limited by human explanation. He speaks what He intends to do, not what humans are comfortable hearing.
This changes how we treat God’s promises. Many of us believe God only after we see signs, money, connections, or progress. But Christmas teaches that God’s word is reliable even when there is no evidence yet. If God could announce the birth of Christ hundreds of years in advance and bring it to pass exactly as spoken, then His promises over your life are not motivational quotes. They are future realities waiting for the right time to manifest.
Prayer and Confession
Father, I thank You because You are a God who speaks with purpose and clarity. I receive grace to trust Your word even when it challenges my understanding. I confess that every promise You have spoken concerning my life will surely come to pass, exactly as You have said. Amen!
