Acknowledge Christ’s finished work

Philemon 1:6 KJV

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Martin Luther once said: “Learn to know Christ and Him crucified. Learn to sing to Him, and say: Lord Jesus, You are my righteousness, I am Your sin. You have taken upon Yourself what is mine and given me what is Yours. You have become what You were not so that I might become what I was not.”

One of the greatest things we can do for ourselves is to constantly become aware of who we really are in Christ and learning to know what Christ has done for us in every way possible. Learning about Christ and what we have in him can be a feeling as much as it can be an understanding. We come to know through His word, through our fellowship with one another (provoking one another unto love), and through growing in our relationship with Him. As it is with any human-to-human relationship, so it is with our relationship with the person of Jesus. The more time we spend with Him—praying, praising Him, worshipping (Singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs), reading the Bible, particularly the epistles—the more we get to know what he did and what he had done for us.

When we cultivate this culture, He reveals Himself to us and reveals all His promises to us afresh. The more we get to acknowledge his finished works, the more we understand our inheritance, and the more we discover His perfect love for us and the marvellous plans ordained for us.
