Be Humble

Devotional Reading: “do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourself” Philippians 2:3KJV
Our devotion topic today can also be written as “Do not be proud” because, pride is the opposite of humility. People often mistake self esteem for pride and vice versa. Self esteem is purely confidence in your own worth/ability. Pride on the other hand is the unreasonable overestimation of ones superiority in talents, wealth, beauty, status and more.
I beg you with the mercies of the Lord to please see the things you possess, the status you have acquired and all there is to your make up as grace.
Do not count yourself better than others. Jesus laid a good example for believers in Philippians 6:7. Its pride to say we don’t belong to the same social class hence, I can’t bring myself to talking with such a low class like that man. See that man through the eyes of Christ who would never discriminate.
Prayer and Confession
Lord, help me to learn humility from you. help me to see others the same way you see them and treat them accordingly. Help me treat people with love and respect.
