God is not Man 4
By Ifeoluwa Fatoki
Devotional Reading: “When it was time for my first defense, no one showed up to support me. Everyone abandoned me (may it not be held against them) except the Lord. He stood by me, strengthened me…” (2 Timothy 4:16-17a Voice)
We often forget that God is not man. We tend to think that God can do a thing because it is also possible with men. And for many reasons we sideline God, and pitch tent with men.
But God is not a man. In our anchor text, everyone abandoned him except The LORD! We don’t know why they abandoned him, some may have abandoned him intentionally, but maybe there were others who really wanted to stand with him, but just found it impossible at that point in time.
Whatever the case, we can learn this vital truth: Men cannot always be there!
What then do we do with this truth? We can count on God’s presence always. Isn’t He the God with us (Isaiah 7:14) Because of this, the lonely have company, the rejected have a friend, and we all have God near. Near enough to listen, near enough to help, and near enough to see us through.
So remember, when no one stands with you, you are really not alone, for God is not man, and He is with you.
Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You for Your presence. I receive Grace to always remember that I am never alone because You are with me. Amen
