Try a little kindness

Genesis 24:14

And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

The Yoruba culture is such a culture filled with some very important virtues and one of it is kindness. In Yoruba land, it is expected that no matter tight your hand maybe, when the younger see an elderly person helpless in one way or the other perhaps carry some loads, they help them…and many times this act of kindness pay off at a short or longer run.

The story of how Isaac got his wife from the account of Genesis 24, is so familiar to us. However, what the Holy Spirit will be opening your eyes to see this day is all about the character that has been built over the years into the life of Rebecca. I discovered that, she must have trained herself to be kind despite the challenges that could come along with it. While she was setting out that very day she met with Abraham’s eldest servant, she was only being herself like she had been all along not knowing her act of kindness will pay off that day.

Many victories would have been won by believers if they’ll only be merciful to everyone they come in contact with, “The merciful, kind, and generous man benefits himself [for his deeds return to bless him], but he who is cruel and callous [to the wants of others] brings on himself retribution” Pro 11:17 Amp. Also, remember the words if Jesus, “blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”. Decide today to live a life of showing mercy to people around you; it saves you from stress of unnecessary religious prayer.

“That best portion of a good mans life, His little, nameless, unremembered acts Of kindness and love.”
