Never Alone

Devotional Reading: A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. (Mark 4:37 NIV)

We all love the predictable because it helps us to be in charge. For instance, we check weather predictions to plan our clothing and movements. We do not like to be caught unaware. However, as we travel through life, we would discover that life cannot always be predicted. Jesus experienced this with the disciples too.

As the disciples travelled with Jesus Christ in the boat with them, Scripture tells us that a wind arose that nearly sank the boat. It was sudden, and they were not prepared for it. While it may no longer be a news to you that believers are not spared from the challenges in this fallen world, what happened next provides us comfort. The disciples called on Jesus, and He calmed the storm.

In simple terms, travelling with Jesus makes the difference. The disciples called on Jesus Christ who was on the boat with them. However, we have found ourselves in the post-earthly era of Jesus Christ. But He is as near to us as He was to them. While He was in the boat with them, He is resident in us, as the Holy Spirit. We may go about looking frail, but we have in us, the Stiller of storms. We are never alone.

This truth provides comfort for us as we travel through life. We know the ability of our God as the Stiller of storms, more importantly, we know that He is in us and with us. Go today, armed with this truth, that you are not alone.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You because You are always with me and I am never alone. I refuse to give in to fear in Jesus Name.
