Recognize the Answer – It May Not Come in Fancy Wrapping

Devotional Reading: 1 Kings 19:12 – “…but the Lord was not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”

Sometimes God answers your prayer, and you miss it because it didn’t come the way you expected. We expect thunder and fireworks, but God may send the answer quietly; through a phone call, a text, a conversation, a changed heart, or even a rejection that leads to redirection.

Naaman almost missed his healing because he expected something dramatic. When Elisha told him to dip in the Jordan seven times, Naaman was like, “Ehn? Just like that?” But his healing was in obedience, not theatrics. Thank God he had a wise servant who helped him see the answer in the simplicity.

You prayed for peace, and God removed toxic people—don’t cry, that’s the answer. You prayed for financial breakthrough, and God gave you an idea, not money—run with it! Answers sometimes look like opportunities, not packages with a ribbon.

The key is spiritual sensitivity. Pay attention. God may answer your prayer through a sermon, a dream, a godly friend, or even a ‘no’ that protects you. Don’t be so obsessed with how the answer to your prayers will come that you miss when it does come.

I have eyes to see and ears to hear. I will not miss my answered prayers when they come, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
