Stay Plugged In

Devotional Reading: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14, 16 (NKJV)

Have you ever bought a toy or remote control that says, “Batteries not included”? Frustrating, right? Thankfully, when God called you light, He also provided the power source—Himself! You’re not shining on your own. Jesus is the plug. Literally.

Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world.” That means your light is a reflection of His. So don’t feel bad when you’re tired or don’t “feel spiritual.” You’re not the generator; you’re the bulb. Your job is to stay connected.

Some of us have become like rechargeable lamps, we shine for a while and then fade when we disconnect from the source. No wonder we’re moody on Monday, spiritual on Sunday, and unavailable on Saturday. The solution is simple: stay plugged into God daily through prayer, the Word, and fellowship. No recharge, no glow.

Yes, there are days when life feels like they took light. But God doesn’t suffer blackouts. If you’re connected, you’ll keep glowing. You won’t burn out trying to impress people. You’ll shine naturally, like the sun at noon… unapologetic and consistent.

Prayer and Confession
Father, help me stay connected to You, my source. Fill me with fresh strength and keep my light from flickering out.
