The Strength Exchange

Devotional Reading: But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

Waiting on God is not about losing time; it is about gaining strength. You may feel like nothing is happening while you wait, but spiritually, there is an exchange going on. Your weakness is being traded for God’s strength. It is like plugging your drained phone into a charger, it may look still, but it is refueling.

Impatience drains us. Many believers end up spiritually exhausted because they rush ahead of God. But those who wait learn how to conserve energy, not waste it on worry. Instead of pacing around in anxiety, waiting teaches you to sit still and let God recharge you.

Notice the promise: those who wait will “mount up with wings as eagles.” Eagles don’t flap around in panic like chickens; they soar effortlessly on the wind. That is what waiting produces … grace-powered movement instead of self-powered struggle.

When you are tempted to think waiting is wasted time, remind yourself it is actually divine refueling. God is renewing your energy for the journey ahead.

Prayer and Confession
Lord, I receive fresh strength as I wait on You. My weakness is exchanged for Your power, and I soar above weariness and discouragement, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
