Then Distant, Now United With Christ

Key Text: “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” 1 Corinthians 6:17

Before Christ, mankind’s greatest problem was not merely sin but separation. Humanity was created for fellowship with God, yet sin brought distance. In the Old Testament, God’s presence was often associated with specific places. There was a tabernacle, a temple, a holy place, and strict boundaries. Not everyone could approach freely. But through Christ, something revolutionary happened. God did not simply invite us closer; He united us with Christ. The believer is not merely near God. He is joined to the Lord. That is a level of intimacy Adam never fully experienced before the cross.

Imagine carrying your phone around all day while constantly searching for a charger, not realizing it is already plugged into a power bank in your pocket. Sounds funny, but many believers live that way spiritually. They spend their lives begging God to come near when He has already taken up residence within them. They attend church hoping God will visit, while the Holy Spirit quietly reminds them, “I came with you.” The New Creation reality is not God occasionally dropping by for a visit. It is God making you His dwelling place.

This truth changes ordinary moments. You do not leave God’s presence when you leave a church building. He is with you in traffic, at work, in the marketplace, in the kitchen, and during those awkward moments when you wave back at someone who was actually greeting the person behind you. The awareness of Christ in you produces confidence, wisdom, and peace. You are never facing life alone. The same Christ seated in glory has chosen to make His home in you through the Spirit.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You that I am united with Christ. I thank You that Your Spirit lives in me and that I am never alone. I declare that Christ is my life, my wisdom, my strength, and my peace. I walk daily in the awareness of Your presence and fellowship. Wherever I go, Your presence goes with me. Amen.
