Eternal Life; A present day reality

John 6:47 (NLT)

I tell you the truth; anyone who believes has eternal life”.

Over the years, the church was made to believe that eternal life is the life we get when the corruptible put on the incorruptible; that is, it’s a life we get after death when we get to “heaven”. How wrong were they! Checking through the scripture, especially the very words of Jesus in the gospel, we discover eternal life is for anyone who will dare believe in Jesus Christ (John 3:16, 5:24). The question now is, do you believe in the gospel? If yes, you’ve got eternal life (it’s not a promise).

From our opening scripture, you wouldn’t say Jesus is ignorant of the fact that believers are still present here in the body. He said emphatically, “anyone who believes has eternal life”. John in his words says, “I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, *so that you may know you have eternal life*” 1John 5:13.

When you believe this and allow it register in you, the amazing new creation realities might be enjoyed by you. It’s a life full of great benefits, it is the life now.

I’ve got the life of God in me. The life that I live is the life of the son of God. Hallelujah!
