One boast you should make!

Jeremiah 9:23

This is what the lord says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches.

Man can’t do without talking about his successes or achievement, it comes as pride for him. He boasts in those things he has achieved by his own hands and brags about his intellect and knowledge in bringing those achievement into reality.

However, from today’s text it is apparent from the mouth of the prophet that the wise shouldn’t boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches. Why? The Psalmist wrote that “As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, And its place acknowledges it no longer” (Ps.103:15-16)

What therefore is our boasting? The prophet affirms it in Jeremiah 9:24, But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the lord who demonstrates unfailing love…” Paul also restated this in 1cor 1:31 And 2Cor 10:17. Hence, the attitude of the believer in boasting is that we boast always in the Lord.

I boast in Christ alone. I boast always in my knowledge about him. In Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God. Amen!
