The Home Coming
1Thessalonians 5:4
” But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”
When most folks hear the word “rapture”, their whole body system get uncomfortable, they have this fear inclination of whether they are fit to be in heaven. At that point, even some strong men in the faith see themselves unworthy.
Paul is saying, for the believers the “rapture” which is the resurrection of the saints, is not something that will come upon you suddenly, but should be a thing of comfort and joy. In Philippians 3:20, Paul hath said, we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
“Rapture” or rather the resurrection of the saints, is a homecoming for the believers and not a dreadful expectation. Paul further says in Chapter 5 verse 9 &10 of 1Thessalonians that For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, vs.10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. The death and the resurrection of Christ qualifies the believer to reign with him. We are to take comfort and not scare people with these words. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4: 18).
