Love Your Enemies
Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
The society has a way of defining is own kind of love, and what the movies and the ideas of men has brought our part has not fully met God’s standard of Love. The society only loves those who love back or those to whom they expect returns, and it is alarming that most Christian folks dances along this line as well.
In the sermon of Jesus in Matthew 5:43-45, Jesus presents a standard of Love that’s beyond comparison. This kind of love embraces not just the worthy but also the undeserving – reaching beyond family and friends to touch those who can’t or won’t live us back. This is the God size kind of love, the one that is without prejudice but blesses every one.
God wants us to live out this love, Jesus said, this how we know the children of God. This the only kind of love that can transform the society.
