He Needs Your Attention
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Technology today seems to demand much of our time and attention. The modern miracle of the internet especially the advent of social media gives us the capacity to access humanity’s collective learning and what is going on around someone else’s life in a split second. There is always this impulse to always need to know what is happening out there making sure we are not missing out on anything, thereby producing chronic anxiety.
As much as technology as done good, we tend not give God the attention He deserves from us. It so happens that we rely on the internet to get satisfaction and momentary peace but instead it raises the bar of anxiety.
Paul knows our souls are wired to find peace in God and so he said we are not to be anxious but to pray and the peace of God shall guard our heart. Some may see prayer a little tasking but then how often do we check our phones? What if we instead let that urge be channeled towards talking to God.
Always, in the place of prayer and thanksgiving, we find peace and rest the world never gives. Give God your attention.
CONFESSION
The peace of of God guards my heart as I turn to God in prayer. Amen!
