God’s Word Produces Faith

Devotional Reading: Let the word of Christ live in you richly, flooding you with all wisdom. Apply the Scriptures as you teach and instruct one another with the Psalms, and with festive praises, and with prophetic songs given to you spontaneously by the Spirit, so sing to God with all your hearts! Colossians 3:16 TPT

It takes faith to live like a Christian and walk out God’s plan for your life. And faith only comes from one place – from God’s Word (Romans 10:17). If faith came another way, I would tell you.

I’ve heard people say, “If I could just see a miracle, then I would have faith.” If seeing miracles were enough in themselves, then the children of Israel would have had more faith than anyone, and they would have believed God about entering the Promised Land. The book of Exodus records numerous miracles: water turns into blood, sticks transform into snakes, seas part. There are many miracles chronicled in the Old Testament and the New Testament, but Hebrews 3:19 says, “They could not enter in [to the promised land] because of unbelief.”

Faith is simply believing what God has said, more than what you see happening around you. It is believing something you can’t see yet based on what God has promised in His Word. And it’s your victory. You were never meant to live on this planet without the Word of God. It’s your lifeline. It is your instruction manual.

The Bible itself tells us that we should let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. Sadly, many Christians allow the Word to dwell in them poorly. They read just a little bit. Every day you go without reading your Bible is a day you’re trying to live life in your own strength. Believe me, that is too hard. The more you read, the better you live.

Prayer and Confession
I live by the Word of God, I am committed to reading, studying and living it. Amen!
