The Cross – The Symbol of Victory

Devotional Reading: Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. —Colossians 2:15 (NIV)

Many people see the cross as a symbol of suffering, but for the believer, it represents victory. It wasn’t a defeat—it was a setup for a major comeback. Jesus didn’t stay dead. Three days after the cross, He rose from the grave, proving that death had lost its sting and sin had lost its grip.

At the cross, the enemy thought he had won. But God had a different plan. What looked like the end was actually a new beginning. Through the cross, Jesus crushed the power of sin and disarmed Satan’s authority over our lives. That means, as believers, we no longer have to live in fear or bondage.

Sometimes, we struggle with temptation, bad habits, or past mistakes, but the power of the cross gives us victory. You’re not fighting for victory; you’re fighting from a place of victory. The enemy will try to remind you of your past, but you can remind him of the cross—it’s your proof that you’re already free.

The beauty of the cross is that it doesn’t just forgive us—it empowers us. It gives us the strength to say no to sin and yes to God. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now at work in us. That means we’re not weak, helpless people. We’re victorious children of God.

Let today be a day where you walk in that victory. Don’t carry what Jesus already carried for you. Stand tall, not in pride, but in the confidence that the cross has given you the upper hand over anything that tries to hold you down.

Prayer and Confession
I am more than a conqueror through Christ. The cross has broken every chain. I walk in victory, authority, and freedom. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me.
