Living Like Christ 2

Written by Emmanuel Kayode

Devotional Reading: “Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, who, though he was God, did not demand and cling to his rights as God, but laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men. And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross.” Philippians 2:5-8 TLB

There is a popular saying among the Yoruba’s (a tribe in Nigeria), ‘it takes someone on a high platform to fall, while someone on the ground level cannot be said to have fallen.’ So also, is the case of humility, a man can truly be said to be humble if at first he has things to brag about but wouldn’t do.

Jesus Christ who was God in flesh laid aside His glory, humbled himself even until death. He has all there is to brag about, but He chose not to. For every child of God, this is one way to live like Christ, not holding on so much into achievements. Many people brag about their level of education, their relationships, wealth, background etc.

There’s nothing you’ve gotten that hasn’t been given to you by God. There are people who labored, prayed and fasted than you did, yet they do not possess what Grace has given to you.

Do you desire to live like Christ lived a humble life? Consider all that you’ve got as a privileged obtained from God.

Prayer and Confession
I am created in the image of God and I have His nature in me. I look unto Him and I am conforming into His will.
