Understanding Jehovah Jireh 6

Devotional Reading: And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. Genesis 22:15-17.

The text we have been considering if you study carefully, you will observer that the speakings of the Angel of the Lord to Abraham comprised of his appraisal, his provision, and his blessing. These three things are paramount in understanding the reward system of Jehovah Jireh. Let us quickly look into his appraisal.

The Angel of the Lord stated: “Now I know you fear me and have not withheld your only son from me”(vs 12). This is the first phase of the reward. Remember God had earlier introduced himself to Abraham as his shield and exceedingly great reward in Genesis 15:1; Abraham’s appraisal revealed that he had recieved the highest reward of becoming more like God through training. The instruction was with the aim to reveal to God how much of the fear of the Lord had been worked into the Father of faith. It wasn’t so much a test of faith, rather a test of the fear of the Lord.

One must also observe that God’s intent was to raise Abraham as the father of faith, and the example for many generations. Abraham through this examination had grown to becoming that loving father like God, in that he gave his only begotten Isaac as God will also give his only begotten Jesus for the sins of the world.

The first reward of Jehovah Jireh is not the provision of needs is the working of Godliness in a man. When you are becoming more like him, you are already receiving rewards from Jehovah Jireh.

Prayer and Confession
Jehovah Jireh, train me, examine me and reward me with yourself in Jesus name and I decree that as I walk with the Lord, I become more like Him. My mind is transformed today, I am moving from glory to glory in Jesus name.
