God is not Man 1

By Ifeoluwa Fatoki

Devotional Reading: “The LORD kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what He had promised. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would.” (Genesis 22:1-2 NLT)

Take nothing away from men. Men are promise-makers, and promise-keepers. However, the consistency cannot be ascertained. This is because, there are many things beyond the reach of men. Someone promises to visit you, and then the weather makes it impossible. Another promised to call at a set time, only to forget, or even sleep off.

Men get tired, we forget. And sometimes, things don’t just work as we anticipated. We’re men after all, and God is God. This is not to suppose that we should not keep our word, and as at when due, but maybe to help us understand that, in truth, only God can do that with exactitude.

All of Scripture teach us this truth, and our anchor text illustrates this. God kept His word, making it happen at the exact time. One more thing. Sometimes men make promises, only because they anticipate certain outcomes. But what God needs to fulfill His promise, is to make the promise.

We can therefore trust God to keep His Word to time. Isaiah 60:22 reminds us that“…When the right time comes, I will make this happen quickly. I am the LORD!” (GNT).

He is the LORD and He is in charge. He keeps His Word and He can be trusted.

Prayer and Confession
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see you for who you truly are. I refuse to relate with you any longer from a wrong standpoint of view. Amen!
