Success Transmitted Disease

Devotional Reading: “Esther still hadn’t told anyone she was a Jewess, for she was still following Mordecai’s orders, just as she had in his home.” Esther 2:20 TLB

A saying among the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria goes thus, “You never can tell with certainty the true character of a person until such an individual becomes wealthy and well placed.” This has been proven to be true over time on many occasions and fortunately, believers are guilty of such too.

They behave very humble and amiable when they have little or no physical possession or social influence whatsoever. However, change in their status bring about a change in their disposition; acting as though they have it all and needed no one any longer, they begin to disrespect authorities they probably were once obedient to.

Esther, according to the instruction of Mordecai her uncle kept her identity even when she’s been declared a queen in place of Vasti. Prior to that season, she’s been obedient to him and she continues to do likewise as well as accepting the advice of Hegai the Eunuch in charge of the harem. That was instrumental to her receiving favor (verse 10, 15).

Look on you, all the godly virtues you are displaying, could it be because you are still trusting God for certain blessings to be evident in you, after which you lose such virtues for new and bad ones? If your way of life is affected negatively because of God’s blessing on you, then you are suffering from “Success Transmitted Disease” and diseases of any kind could kill if not cured.

Prayer and Confession
The life I live is controlled by the spirit of God and I live consistently according the written word. Social status or any other blessings, either in the spiritual or physical do not make me lose my godly virtues. Amen
