The Jesus Life
Devotional Reading: For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:29 HCSB
The plan of God from eternity was for man to be in the image of Christ Jesus, which ultimately is God’s image. As a child of God, your spirit is already in the image of Christ. God’s word says, “…for we are as He is in this world.” (1 John 4:17b, HCSB) Your identity in Christ will now influence the way you live life on Earth.
Jesus’ life and approach to daily living while on Earth is a model of how your life (as a child of God) is expected to be on Earth. If you follow the pattern of Jesus, you will also get the kinds of results Jesus got while on Earth. The plan of God is that your life will follow after that of Jesus Christ. In doing so, you will be bringing glory to God with your life.
How did Jesus live his life while on Earth?
He always followed the dictate of the Father per time. That means he made efforts to know what the will of the Father is per time. (John 5:19)
How was he able to know God’s will per time?
- He had the scriptures (Old Testament books) at his disposal and he knew them well. Today we have both the Old and New Testament books.
- He spent quality time with God daily in fellowship (prayers). Jesus prioritized spending quality time with God daily
(Mark 1:35). Despite his busy schedule, he often found time to go to a solitary place early in the morning to pray, seeking God’s face. Sometimes he set apart time to pray all through the night.
That’s the example to follow if you want to pattern your life after Jesus.
What were the fruits that followed after Jesus?
- He knows what the father wants him to do per time.
- He worked miracles every day. That should be your daily experience too.
- He was not led by circumstances. He gained mastery over circumstances.
He taught powerfully with authority.
Dearly beloved, the life Jesus lived during his earthly walk is the prototype of what the life of an average believer should be today. Study God’s word more, dig deeper into the life of Jesus. His life defines your life.
Prayer and Confession
I am in the image of Christ who is the image of the father. I am as he is in this world.
