Waiting on The Lord

Devotional Reading: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV

Waiting on God is a critical aspect of our walk with Him. It’s a practice that requires patience and trust in God’s timing and ability to speak to us. However, sometimes, we may find ourselves waiting for days or even weeks, wondering why God is not answering our prayers or giving us direction.

In such moments, it’s essential to examine our actions and motives. Waiting on God is not an excuse for inactivity or complacency. It’s not an opportunity to sit back and do nothing, expecting God to do everything for us. Instead, waiting on God is an active pursuit of His will and purpose for our lives. In moments like this, you continue to give more attention to the word and prayers and anything that will help your heart posture.

The degree to which we are open to receiving from God will determine how quickly we receive. Our ability to hear and receive from God is a function of our level of mastery and intimacy with Him.

Consistent fellowship with God through prayer, studying His word, and worshiping Him helps us to develop a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him. This intimacy with God enables us to recognize His voice and discern His will more effectively and efficiently.

Moreover, waiting on God is not only about receiving directions or counsel from Him, but it’s also about growing in our relationship with Him. Consistent fellowship with God helps us to develop a heart that seeks after Him, a heart that is hungry for more of His presence and power in our lives. This heart posture of seeking God leads to a renewed strength like that of an eagle.

Dearly beloved, waiting on God is a noble pursuit that requires active participation and consistent fellowship with God. As we seek Him, we will develop a deeper intimacy with Him, recognize His voice, and discern His will more effectively and efficiently. We will also experience a renewed strength like that of an eagle, enabling us to soar above life’s challenges and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.
