Walking in Love

Devotional Reading: You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.
1 Peter 1:22 NLT

Believers sometimes find themselves in situations where they are not walking in love towards fellow believers in the Lord Jesus Christ for diverse reasons. Love goes beyond talking and is seen in our attitudes and actions. However, sometimes we struggle to walk in love because the place where we may get hurt most is in the church. But do we stop walking in love? No.

Peter encourages believers to love each other deeply with all their hearts. This kind of love looks beyond faults and hurts. And don’t get it twisted; to love deeply is not the same as committing yourself to a person so that you will always fall victim to being hurt. You learn to set boundaries while loving deeply.
We love deeply because we have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable.

One common reality for all believers is that the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts the day we receive Christ into our lives (Romans 5:5). We become more rooted in that love as we feast and feed on God’s love for us. That same love we are to communicate to fellow believers under every circumstance.

Beloved, love is patient and kind. It does not want what belongs to others and does not brag. It is not proud and does not dishonor other people. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry, and it does not keep track of other people’s wrongs. Love is not happy with evil but is full of joy when the truth is spoken. Will you embrace the culture of walking in love? You should.

Prayer and Confession
I love deeply because I have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable. Love lives in me.
