Experiencing Newness

By Ifeoluwa Fatoki

Devotional Reading: That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” (Mark 4:35 NIV)

The passage before us details a time during the earthly sojourn of Jesus with His disciples. After a series of teachings, Jesus Christ instructed them to cross over. However, while we shall look at other things from tomorrow, there is a basic yet most important truth that we find in our anchor text. It is that the disciples knew Jesus and were known by Him.

In other words, the people to whom Jesus spoke had a relationship with Him, an intimate one for that matter. In a world like ours where it matters who you know and who knows you, can I say that knowing Jesus and being known by Him is the greatest relationship ever. The truth is that we cannot do life on our own. The people we know are not sufficient to do all for us. Jesus Christ has however done the most important, dying to give us life, and committing Himself to our good in all ways.

To put it in contemporary terms, having a relationship with Jesus is the biggest flex! Dear reader, if you have one with Him already, then what a blessed individual you are. And if you know you do not, here is another opportunity to yield yourself to Him, and make Him Lord of your life. Above all, commit yourself to speaking to someone about Jesus Christ today and every other day.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You for making me Yours. I receive Your help to speak to others about Jesus today and always in Jesus Name.
