Knowing God Through His Word

Devotional Reading: I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver. Psalms 119:16‭, ‬72 NLT

God intended for His creation to be relatable to Him. Therefore, we were fashioned and designed in the image of God (Genesis 1:26). The angels didn’t even have the privilege of communing with God. God gave mankind an honorable gift by giving us a part of Himself in the form of the spirit.

Often intimacy is mistaken for being a meaningless act with another person that you may or may not love. Although there is much confusion that couldn’t be further from the truth. The issue, when trying to seek intimacy in all the wrong places, you can leave pieces of yourself with people who are undeserving of you.

One of the main ways that God speaks to His children is through His Word. It is the likeliest places to hear His voice without confusion. This is why it is imperative to interact with God through prayer and the reading of His Scriptures. Whenever we ask God questions while meditating on what He has spoken we create intimate moments with God.

In these times it is important to remember that what God speaks will not be in contradiction to what has been written in the Bible. As we still ourselves to listen and allow God time to penetrate our spirit we become more familiar with His voice. As openness and transparency become the key factors in the relationship, it creates the vulnerability needed to have a rich intimate relationship with God.

Prayer and Confession
Father, as I draw near to you by giving myself to the daily reading of your Word, help me to pay attention to your voice speaking to me.
