Doing Good Always

Devotional Reading: “He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.” – Luke 5:3 NIV

The season we are in now as a nation (Nigeria) is one that seems difficult for people to live as they should, people face challenges of diverse sort, ranging from financial instability to insecurity of lives and properties. Many graduate, both believers and unbelievers are faced with the challenge of unemployment in such a time as this. Those who are employed are underpaid and even buy things at a costlier price, making life not as good as the individual would have desired it.

The above scenario could be related to the state of hopelessness, frustration and stagnation that the fishermen in which Simon was one were in at the moment. Having toiled all night with nothing to show for it. No single fish had been caught. Trust me that was not a good time for his ship to be borrowed by anyone, not even Jesus for whatever reason. But all glory to God, Simon did not miss his time of divine encounter that changed the narrative of his life.

Yes, you do not have it all, in fact it seems as though the picture painted earlier fits into your reality perfectly. But trust me, like Simon did, you also need never to stop being good; doing good is your nature and it comes with numerous untold blessings. Especially when it relates to kingdom matters, never hesitate to be good. Like Simon, answers to many of your prayers lies in giving out your life, time, substance and all yours for the cause of the gospel even when it demands sacrificial giving.

Prayer and Confession
I have the life and nature of God in me that enables me to do good at all times, even in the seemingly difficult times and situations.
