God’s Inner Armor

Devotional Reading: “Therefore, as the elect of God , holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering.” – Colossians 3:12 NKJV

Humility, meekness, and patience are like God’s inner armor for handling people and situations. Humility keeps us grounded. Meekness keeps us gentle. Patience helps us endure. These qualities are vital in a world where pride, harshness, and quick tempers are often celebrated. But as God’s elect, we take a different path.

Look at Moses. The Bible calls him the meekest man on earth (Numbers 12:3), yet he led millions out of slavery, stood before Pharaoh, and parted the Red Sea. Meekness is not weakness—it’s strength under control. He didn’t need to shout to be heard. His quiet strength made room for God to move. Humility helps us trust God’s plan instead of forcing our own.

Then there’s Paul, the same man writing this verse. He was once proud and aggressive, persecuting Christians. But after encountering Jesus, he became a humble servant who loved deeply and suffered patiently for the gospel. He didn’t hide from trials or lash out when wronged. He endured—longsuffering with joy (Colossians 1:11). His life shows us that these virtues are not only possible but powerful.

Patience, especially, is something we all struggle with—whether it’s waiting on God’s timing, handling difficult people, or enduring trials. But it’s in those moments that our character is being shaped. When we respond with patience instead of panic, God is glorified, and we grow stronger.

Prayer and Confession
Lord, help me to walk in humility, meekness, and patience. Teach me to respond with grace, endure with strength, and trust in Your timing, even when it’s difficult.
