God Uses Who We Overlook
Key Text: And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife. And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. 2 Kings 5:2-3 KJV
One of the most powerful characters in this story does not even have her name recorded. She was a young servant girl, taken captive, far from home, working in the house of the very man whose nation had oppressed her people. If anyone had a reason to be bitter, silent, or unhelpful, it was her. Yet she chose compassion over resentment and pointed her master toward the God of Israel. That is already a miracle before Naaman ever reached the prophet.
This teaches us that usefulness to God is not about position but about heart posture. Many people think, “When I become more important, then God can use me.” This girl had no title, no platform, no audience, and no freedom. Still, she became the bridge between a desperate man and divine healing. Never underestimate small obedience. Heaven does not measure influence the way humans do.
Another lesson is that God’s purpose for your life is not paused because your situation is uncomfortable. This girl did not say, “Let me first get my life together.” She served God right there in a foreign land. Sometimes we postpone obedience waiting for perfect conditions. But God specializes in working through imperfect settings. If He waited for everything to be ideal, nothing would happen. Your current environment is not an accident. It may be the exact place where someone’s breakthrough is tied to your voice.
Prayers And Confession
Father, help me to remain faithful wherever I am placed. Remove every excuse that tells me I must wait for better conditions before serving You. Use my words, actions, and attitude to point others toward Your grace. I declare that my life will be a channel of help, no matter how small it may seem. Amen.
