Then Waiting for Access, Now Boldly Approaching God

Key Text: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Under the Old Covenant, access to God’s presence was limited. There were courts, veils, priests, and strict regulations that reminded people of the distance between a holy God and sinful humanity. Not everyone could approach freely, and even the high priest entered the Most Holy Place only under specific conditions. But when Jesus died, the veil was torn, announcing that a new and living way had been opened for all who believe.

Many Christians still approach God as though the veil is hanging in place. They pray timidly, wondering if God is willing to listen or help them. It is like being given a VIP pass to an event and still standing outside the gate begging the security guards for permission to enter. Through Christ, we do not approach God as strangers seeking an appointment. We approach Him as sons and daughters who have been welcomed into His presence.

This reality should fill us with confidence in prayer and fellowship. When you need wisdom, strength, mercy, or direction, you do not have to persuade God to care about you. His invitation is already open. As a believer, the throne you approach is not called the throne of judgment for the believer; it is called the throne of grace. Every day becomes an opportunity to draw near to God with confidence, knowing that Christ has already secured your access.

Prayer and Confession
Father, I thank You for the access I have through Jesus Christ. I declare that I come boldly before Your throne, confident in Your love and grace. I receive mercy for every weakness and grace for every challenge. My fellowship with You grows deeper as I walk in the reality of what Christ has accomplished for me. Amen.
