LEADINGS AND PERCEPTIONS 1
Key Text: “I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” Isaiah 48:17 (KJV)
One beautiful truth about our relationship with God is that He is interested in the direction of our lives. God is not only interested in where you will spend eternity; He is also concerned about how you navigate your everyday life. Your decisions, relationships, career, responsibilities and personal growth matter to Him. He is not a God who gives you salvation and then leaves you to figure out the remaining parts of life by yourself.
However, divine leading is not always about receiving dramatic instructions or hearing an audible voice from heaven. Sometimes, God’s direction comes through the wisdom of His Word, the prompting of the Holy Spirit, godly counsel and a growing understanding of what is right. We sometimes expect God to announce every instruction with a loud heavenly microphone, forgetting that He has already given us His Word and His Spirit. The goal is not to experience something dramatic every day but to develop a life that is sensitive to His direction.
Think about a child learning to walk with the guidance of a responsible father. The father does not necessarily carry the child everywhere; sometimes, he holds his hand, gives instructions and allows the child to take steps with growing confidence. In the same way, God wants us to grow in our ability to recognise His leading and respond with maturity. Christianity is not a life of random decisions and occasional prayers for emergency intervention; it is a life of fellowship with God, where His wisdom influences how we live.
Prayers and Confession
Father, thank You because You are interested in leading and directing my life. I receive grace to recognise Your instructions, understand Your wisdom and follow Your direction. I am growing in sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and in my understanding of God’s Word. My steps are ordered by the Lord. Amen
Reflection
Do I approach God as someone who is interested in the everyday decisions of my life? Am I developing a lifestyle of fellowship with God or only seeking Him when I need urgent answers?
