Building God-Consciousness 2

Devotional Reading: The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. Genesis 39:2-4NIV

Building God-consciousness helps one to live life with confidence and assurance in the reality that we are secure. The days are evil. Evil occurrences are rampant and tend to cause one to live in perpetual fear. Fear limits. It destroys. Beyond that, building God-consciousness helps one live life, pursue purpose with the confidence and hope that all things are possible with God on our sides.

Life is spiritual. It’s either you are being powered by dark powers or by the light. To make a mark in life, you must depend on a higher force. You have to be bold and courageous, and the spirit of God must power it, or else you will be cut short in no time. It is a wicked world we live in, and it’s not getting any better. It’s getting darker.

Today, I want to tell you how you can build a true strong God-consciousness. Building God-consciousness is not being presumptuous that God is with you since you’ve been told the God lives in you. If you are being presumptuous, you will be whipped face down.

Building God-consciousness is first of all a matter of the heart. Anything that will help your heart to be conscious of God’s abiding presence always is what you must pursue. The first key to building a true God-consciousness is prioritizing God in your life.

This means treating God as more important than any other person or thing in your life. It means putting God first in all you do and getting him involved in all areas of your life. It means putting God in his rightful place in your life and relating with him accordingly. Esteem his words and instructions. When you do all those, you will be helping your heart to build a strong consciousness of God.

The Bible spoke so well of Jehoshaphat that he sought God and obeyed his commands. When King Ahab summoned him to partner with him to attack Aram, he responded that they should ask what the Lord’s will is first before taking action. Even though he could have been killed in the battle front eventually, God miraculously rescued him when he called upon him. Joseph prioritized God in his life. Paul the apostle did, John the beloved did, the other apostles did, and you should too. Prioritize God in your life.

Joseph did. David did. God even testified that he was a man after his own heart. There is a link between prioritizing God in your life and building a strong God-consciousness.

If you think you can build God-consciousness without prioritizing God in your life like men of old did, you will be causing yourself a lot of harm, for your heart will not be stable, and you won’t enjoy the implications that follow God indwelling a man’s life on this earth.

Prayer and Confession
God, I agree with your word that you are in me, with me, and for me always. I am secured in your arms. I will prioritize you in my life and all that I do.
