What do you know about God?

One of the most important truths of life is that relationships are expedient. It is also important to know that while men focus on wealth and possessions, relationships are one of the greatest assets in life. And the subject of relationship is in two-fold, being in relationship with God and men. Relationships helps to know the character of an individual, and how to relate with such a person.

Back in secondary school, I knew of a teacher whom almost nobody liked. I knew enough about him to dislike him, even though he had not taught me yet. The people we met in school called him ‘Jaguar’, and since I had witnessed him dealing with some students on certain occasions, I arrived at my conclusion. I didn’t even know his name, but we all called him ‘Jaguar’. We were quite right. He rarely smiled, always held a cane, and never missed his classes.

However,
sometimes later, a younger boy resumed at our school. They exchanged smiles and words, and the boy spent most of the break time in his office. We call him ‘Jaguar’, but the boy calls him ‘daddy’. After about a year of that, my dad visited in school one day, and as he made his way out of the compound, someone ran towards him, calling him boss, it was Mr., Jaguar.

Apparently, he was a junior colleague of my dad and they said many things which included my dad mentioning to him that he had a son in the school—me. He apologized, noting that he never knew since he had not taught our class. Later at home, I observed that dad had kind and wonderful things to say about him, and since he subsequently addressed and treated me as ‘son’, I confirmed my daddy’s knowledge of him. Others continued to call him ‘Jaguar’, but then, I knew better.

Many believers claim to know God, but the faulty results around reveal that something is wrong somewhere. And we can be sure that the problem is not on the side of God, but on us. Dear friend, do you know, and have a relationship with God? But then, what do you know about Him? More importantly, what is the source of your knowledge about Him? Take time to sincerely ponder on these questions.

Prayer and Confession
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see you for who you truly are. I refuse to relate with you any longer from a wrong standpoint of view. Amen!
