All Things Are Possible

Devotional Reading: “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” Mark 9:23 NLT

From our text, Jesus responds to a man who approached him seeking help for his son troubled by an unclean spirit. The man had previously sought assistance from Jesus’ disciples, but they were unable to cast out the demon. This raises the question of why the disciples, who had the authority to expel unclean spirits according to Matthew 10:8, were unsuccessful in this particular instance.

The scriptures describes the reason for their failure has unbelief. Jesus referred to them as “faithless”, despite having performed similar acts before. This passage emphasizes the importance of faith in the life of a Christian. Believers are urged to embrace unwavering faith, as all things are possible for those who truly believe.

As Christians, our faith is rooted in the conviction of our hearts, leading us to righteousness, and our confession of faith results in salvation. It is crucial for believers to continually nurture and hold on to our faith, refusing to become faithless or doubtful. By doing so, we open themselves up to the limitless possibilities that faith brings.

The phrase “ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM THAT BELIEVES” is a powerful reminder of the potential that exists for those who holdfast faith. It is important to let this truth sink deep within, even if it requires repeating the words multiple times. By internalizing and affirming it, believers reinforce their faith and become receptive to the abundance of possibilities available to them.
