Crossing Over
Devotional Reading: That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” (Mark 4:35 NIV)
Yesterday, we established that the greatest relationship anyone can have is the one we have with God through Jesus Christ. We take it further today. The passage before us details a time during the earthly sojourn of Jesus with His disciples. After a series of teachings, Jesus Christ instructed them to cross over. Do not gloss over that word “instruct.” That is another important point. Jesus initiated the journey with an instruction to His disciples. In the instruction of Jesus lay the action of the disciples.
These days, many believers do things without seeking the counsel of God. Rather, they merely inform God of what they have planned and concluded to do. This is not God’s design for us. He created us, and we belong to Him; we are His people, the sheep in His pasture (Psalm 100:3 CEV). God desires to take responsibility for our lives and its outcome, and the way God seeks to do this is by instructing us.
Beloved, do you seek His instruction, to know and to do? Or do you merely inform Him of what you have decided to do? We must never forget that God is committed to instructing us. The place to start today, perhaps is to take a look into the recent past. Have you sought His instructions or neglected them? Have you also obeyed them? We must remember that God’s instructions are always in our best interest ultimately, We will press further tomorrow. Shalom.
Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You because You care for me. I declare that I seek Your instructions and fully obey them in Jesus Name.
