Buried to Rise － A Life of Hope

Devotional Reading: “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.” Romans 6:5 (NIV)

Every seed must go into the ground before it can sprout into life. Jesus spoke of Himself in that way in John 12:24, saying that unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. His burial was not just about death—it was the setup for resurrection.

For us, this means that when we embrace our union with Christ’s burial, we are positioning ourselves for a new life filled with power, freedom, and fruitfulness. The Christian life is not just about what we died to, but about what we rose into. The burial prepared the way for a better life—a life of hope, joy, and purpose.

There are times in life when it feels like things are being buried—dreams, opportunities, even prayers. But God’s way often involves burial before breakthrough. If God allowed something to be buried, it’s because He has a resurrection in mind. Jesus wasn’t just buried; He rose in glory. And you, too, were buried with Him so you could rise with Him.

This truth brings hope to our everyday struggles. It tells us that no moment is wasted, no pain is meaningless, and no failure is final. Christ’s burial assures us that God can take what seems like the end and turn it into the beginning of something glorious.

So today, walk with hope. What feels buried in your life might just be a seed God is preparing for resurrection. If you’ve been buried with Christ, then get ready—resurrection is not a maybe, it’s a promise.

Prayer and Confession
God, I believe that in every burial, You are planning a resurrection. Just as Christ rose from the grave, I rise with Him into new life. I hold onto hope, knowing that every seed sown in faith will bear fruit. I walk in resurrection power, filled with purpose and confident in Your promises. Amen.
