Thinking Kingdom; Living For Eternity, Not Just Today

Devotional Reading: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2 (NIV)

The world teaches us to “live your best life now,” and while there’s nothing wrong with enjoying life, Kingdom thinking reminds us that now is not all there is. Eternity is real. Heaven is real. And how we live today echoes into forever.

Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” That’s not a call to ignore life here, but to live it with eternity in view. This changes how we spend our time, how we give, how we treat people, and even how we endure difficulties. Kingdom thinking says, “I may not see the reward now, but I will see it later.”

It also gives us hope in the face of death. While the world mourns without hope, Kingdom-minded believers mourn with the confidence that this life isn’t the end. It’s just the beginning. That’s why Paul could say, “To live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).

This eternal perspective makes sacrifices easier. Giving up temporary pleasure is not a loss if you’re gaining eternal reward. Forgiving others becomes easier when you realize you’re storing up treasures in heaven. Serving others becomes more joyful when you remember that God sees every act of love.

Prayer and Confession
I live with eternity in mind. My decisions reflect Kingdom priorities. I sow into eternal things. My hope is not in this world but in Christ. Amen!
