Light With Legs – Let Your Light Do Something

Devotional Reading: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14, 16 (NKJV)

What’s the use of a torchlight if it’s just chilling on the shelf? Jesus didn’t just say “be” light; He said “let your light so shine” that people see your good works. This light has legs. It walks. It acts. It does things. Being light is not passive.

We often think shining means preaching or singing on stage. But, Our light shines through acts of kindness, integrity, generosity, and being there for people. A bright smile, a patient word in disagreement, refusing to join office or class gossip, these are real-life flashes of light.

God wants your light to be practical. Someone should say, “Ah, because of this your Christian behavior, I believe there’s still good people in this world.” That’s it! When people see your good works, they glorify God…not you. You don’t shine to get “likes” or “followers.” You shine to reflect God’s character.

If your Christianity only exists on Sunday morning and WhatsApp status, your bulb may need replacing. Your light must be visible and useful. Light that doesn’t help anyone might as well be off.

Prayer and Confession
Lord, help me to shine with action. Let my life be filled with good works that reveal Your love.
