Revere God

Devotional Reading: “Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.” – 1 Peter 2:17 MSG

Some folks treat God like a spiritual buddy or vending machine. “Hey Big Man Upstairs, send urgent blessings…” But the Bible calls us to revere God. That’s not fear like a horror movie, it’s holy awe. It’s not panicking before God, it’s being properly impressed.

Reverence doesn’t mean boring religion. It’s not long faces and robotic chants. It’s a heart that says, “You’re God. I’m not.” It’s showing up with honour in your heart—not chewing gum during prayer or scrolling during the Word.

Reverence to God reflects in how we obey, how we worship, and how we carry ourselves when no one’s watching. Do you still say “no” to sin when no church member is around? Do you honour God in your business, relationships, and decisions, or do you only perform on Sunday?

God is not your mate. He’s your Father, yes, but He’s also a King. The One who holds your next breath. So before you go “God understands,” ask: Am I honouring Him or just explaining disobedience?

Prayer and Confession
Lord, teach me to honour You deeply. Let my reverence show in my words, choices, and lifestyle. Amen!
